Sawyer Lake 7/12-7/13/2013

I have been in Gettysburg PA for the last couple of days, so it has taken me awhile to post this trip. After the aggravation of July 4th weekend I headed up to NH one last time before taking off to Gettysburg with the family. This time around the water was much quieter, and the bass much more active as a result. The first night out I made one cast, felt the lure sink for ½ a second, and BAM, a 2 ½ pounder smacks it. Not 10 minutes later another 2 pounder gobbled up my lure. While at the damn, I talked for a bit with a friend of mine who lives in the area who has been fishing around quite a bit. We agreed to meet up on the damn the next night. When we got there the next night, the fishing was even better. I pulled up another two nice fish while he tangled with a 1 ½ pounder on his light rod. Another guy we knew also had some luck on a jitterbug later that night. Long story short, it was nice to have the lake back from the idiot vacationers.

  • Type of Fish: Largemouth Bass
  • Fish Length (Avg): 17 inches
  • Fish Length (Max): 18 inches
  • Fish Weight (Max): 2 lbs. 8 oz.
  • Bait Type: Worm Check Prices
  • Bait Details: This is the first of the four fish I caught over the weekend. I arrived at the damn at about 8:10 PM. I made one cast out from the damn, and almost instantly this bass gobbled up my lure! The quality of the photo's are not as good this time around, as I had forgot to bring my camera and had to take all of these pictures with my cellphone. Once again, all fish were caught on 8 in tequila sunrise power worms. I think I need to invest in a good landing net though, as my line keeps breaking bringing them up and hand landing these guys sucks.
  • Location Details: Though I did make an expedition to my favorite morning spot on the other side of the lake, this time all the action was at the Sawyer lake damn in the evening. Bites were occurring all over the embankment, from right next to the damn to the sandy beach.
