LaPlata City Lake is a relatively new lake built in the mid 80's it is somewhere around 100 acres with a concrete boat ramp, privy, hunting allowed (waterfowl by special city regulations). Any size motor allowed (over 10 hp idle speed only). This lake offers good fishing for crappie, bass and catfish. In 2001 I found a large number of crappie though most were small. The lake has quite a bit of lilly pad cover and a old pond on the south side accessible if the lake is at pool level. The bass fishing is good to average. The east end of the lake is the deepest, the lake gets pretty shallow on the west end.
